Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) is available for children, ages 2 to 7 years, who have disruptive behavioral disorders
or problems with adjustment. PCIT sessions are weekly 1 hour sessions for 10 to 12 weeks. In therapy, everyday situations are
created so parents can practice skills taught in sessions “on-the-spot” with help from a therapist. The therapist coaches and
provides immediate and direct guidance to the parent as he/she interacts with the child.
The focus of the program includes consistent limit setting and positive interaction with the child. Goals are set for better
parent-child relationships, improved self esteem, lowered frustration and anger, improved social skills, attention
and organization.
